I have been a work at home Mum for almost 4 years now and find working from home has its ADVANTAGES and DISADVANTAGES.
The biggest advantage I find is that I can always be there for the children and dont have to worry about taking time off for school holidays sickness or school plays. A disadvantage for me is that I actually miss getting up and going out to work.
I would love to hear about YOUR experiences of being a Work At Home Mum.

Being A Stay At Home Mum
Mums Are Important Too recently conducted a survey and asked stay at home mums what they enjoyed and disliked about being a stay at home mum.
Many mums enjoyed spending quality time with their children and liked the flexibility of being able to organise their own day and being there for their children.

Here are some responses from stay at home mums
Mums Enjoyed
Being able to take my children to school and collect them. To be able to make all their playsevents at school to be here if they need me for anything.
Having time for simple things like reading or baking together
I like it all. Being there when my son needs me. Not ever feeling rushed in the morning.
Seeing my children day in day out and watching their every mile stone and every new thing they accomplish
Being able to see my babys firsts and be there for all his needs.
I like the fact that I can organise my day and do what I want when I want

Relax Unwind And Switch Off With Alpha Music
Alpha Music is something I have been using for many years as a way to relax unwind and reduce stress. Its great for Mums and Dads to use after a busy day or when in need of some stress relief. When we are tense or stressed our brain produces Beta Waves. Listening to Alpha Music helps your brain to produce Alpha Waves creating a deep relaxation response and therefore helping you to relax and feel calmer.
Silence of Peace is one CD in the Alpha Music Series. Its relaxing piano music composed by John Levine and is very easy to listen to. In just 4 minutes this music can help you reach alpha state. All family members can benefit from listening to this CD too. Children of all ages find that this music relaxes them.

I have just completed a Stress Survival QampA for my list subscribers and have added it as a blog post as the content is useful for any Mother or Father.
Question I find work stressful at times. Do you have any reducing stress techniques that I could use at work
Answer There are many things you could do to reduce stress that you feel at work. Here are a couple of suggestions

Ensure you have a lunch break. If you dont have time for a lunch break perhaps you could go into work 1015 minutes earlier in a morning or stay a few minutes later on an evening. You will have then created some time to take a break at lunch time. Having a break from work will help to reduce stress that has built up. Going out for a brisk walk at lunch time will give you a break away from the office. The exercise will burn up any stress hormones and help you to feel good. Before starting a new exercise regime you should consult with your GP

One of the best ways to resuce stress and inner tension is to exercise. Exercise burns up excess stress hormones and increases alpha waves electrical patterns in the brain. Alpha waves promote calmness. Exercise will also help you to feel good as it increases endorphins in the brain.

How do you want your children to behave

Do you find the more your child misbehaves the more you think about it and the more you think about it the worse it gets Then its time to take a step back and think about how you really want your child to behave.By taking the time to regularly think about how you would like your child to behave you will find yourself focusing more on their good behaviour and encouraging more of that. It is vital that you pay more attention to how you would like your children to behave because children will do more of what they get attention for and by thinking about how you would like your child to behave you will start to ask yourself the right questions about how you can get your child to behave in that way. For example if you feel that your child is uncooperative and never helps you out and you would like your child to be more cooperative and helpful stop saying to yourself my child is uncooperative and never helps me out...

Relaxation Is An Antidote To Stress

Stress is a part of life and is something that you cant fully avoid. Being a Parent brings with it tensions and pressures.
The demands placed on the body be it physically emotionally or mentally trigger the stress response also known as the fightflight response. When you encounter a trigger the stress response is switched on in the body and chemicals are released around the body which gives the body extra resources to prepare it for fight or flight.
Going back to caveman days this stress response was essential to provide extra bodily resources when the cavemen where in dangerous threatening situations such as encountering furious beasts. The chemicals produced by the body would provide the caveman with either extra strength to fight the beast or extra bodily resources so the caveman could run quicker. The physical activity from fighting or fleeing would burn up any excess chemicals and after the situation was over the stress response would return to the prestress...

A Celebration Of Mothers Day.......

Have you ever wondered where Mothers Day originated from Well it dates back to when children were in domestic service and were given one day off a year to visit their Mother. On their way home they would pick flowers for their Mother.
Later on in History it was Anna Jarvis who campaigned to honour Mothers and Motherhood and the first official Mothers Day was celebrated at the beginning of the 19th century as a tribute to all Mothers as a recognition of all that they do.
Mums Are Important Too would like to wish YOU a Happy Mothers Day.
